East Cork A football Championship Kiltha u16 v Kinsale Kiltha Og u16s knew this could be an uphill battle as last year Kinsale were the stronger side so on a bright blustery evening in Castlemartyr the boys prepared themselves for a battle. They started well with the wind at their backs and the first two points of the match. Daire Coughlan and Ciaran Joyce the scorers. Kinsale weren’t going to make it easy for them though and the game speeded up with Kinsale recovering the two points quickly. Just in case Kinsale thought the Kiltha boys were going to lie down under the pressure, Ciaran Joyce put the ball in the back of Kinsale’s net. There was plenty of back and forward ball for the next while with no scores coming out of it. When the score did come it was a good one with Kevin Knowles providing the goal that would stand the team in good stead for the duration of the game. Niall Mc Grath added a point and they went into half time not having conceded any further scores to Kinsale. Half time 2-3 Kiltha Og, 0-2 Kinsale.
The second half started with a strong show from Kiltha. Ciaran Joyce took on the job of scoring the first point but Kinsale were not going to let that go and started coming back into the match. They were making life difficult for Kiltha Og and clawed themselves back into the game. While Kiltha Og added points to the scoreboard, Ciaran Joyce, James Ahern and Daire Coughlan scoring, the Kinsale boys provided their own points. Not long before the final whistle they also put a goal in that brought the score to within three points of Kiltha. Teamwork prevailed with the home side though and any further efforts by Kinsale did not succeed in them getting any closer to the prize. With a goal between them, Kiltha Og won the day.

Kiltha-og V Glen rovers 9/4/2018
Weather and wet pitches have upset fixtures all round but this match managed to go ahead at Glen Rovers grounds. The going however was not good and it was more muck than might that had a hold of this game. From the outset, The Glen set about taking control of the game getting the first score. It wasnt long though until Colm O Doherty opened the scoring for Kiltha. The boys persisted with great effort despite bad conditions and increasingly heavy rain. Darragh Joyce pulled off some fine saves as goalkeeper containing the scoring in the first half. While at the other end, hard work to get there wasnt always converted to scores. Half time Kiltha Og 0-3, Glen Rovers 0-12. The second half saw Kiltha's u16s come back into the game and while a penalty was finely saved by Glen's goalkeeper, Kiltha's Ciaran Joyce came back down the pitch shortly after and hammered in a goal to make it up. Daire Coughlan also contributed a goal to the scoreline. The boys worked hard at both ends of the pitch but in the end the conditions and physicality of the other side won the day away from Kiltha. Final score Kiltha Og 2-5, Glen Rovers 2-18

Kiltha Og Under16s away to Midleton Football League, St Patricks Day 2018.
First outing for the season, was a cold, wind chilling one at Midleton GAA. The boys were up for the job though and looking forward to the challenge. But it was slow going from the start and despite some efforts the match remained scoreless until the 24th minute when Colm O Doherty finally scored a point for Kiltha. While it seemed to be Kiltha Og’s game to take, it went on to remain 0-1 to Midletons 0-0 at half time. The second half saw more of the same. Zak McAuliffe’s shot on goal looked a certainty but Midleton goalkeeper foiled the attempt. Daire Coughlan scored the second and third point. Another goal opportunity was also saved by Midleton goalkeeper but it went over the bar for a point. The scores could in fact have been somewhat higher with a ball bouncing off the goalpost and several shots going wide. Towards the end, Midleton pulled the game back and went ahead by 2 points only to lose it to a Kiltha ball, struck by Ciaran Joyce, finally reaching the back of the net. Final score 1-4 Kiltha Og, 0-6 Midleton. Team: Ciaran Sice, Niall Mc Grath, Ben Napier, John Morgan, Zak McAuliffe, Scott O Riordan, Kevin Knowles, Dylan O Halloran, Ciaran Joyce, Daire Coughlan, Niall Geaney, Andrew Kelly, James Ahern, Colm O Doherty, Shane Rohan, Michael O Dwyer, Darragh Joyce, Brian Magner.
