U15 Hurling League Premier 1, 17th Sept 2017: Kiltha Og V St Finbarrs
Kiltha Og u15s met the Barrs at Dungourney grounds for a hurling league fixture. A good weather day for the encounter and a better day if Kiltha could secure the win.  The Barrs started strong into the wind and got the first few scores on the board. Kiltha came to and contained the Barrs scoring to four points in the first half while demonstrating strength from all positions building up six of their own points.  Daire Coughlan and James Ahern provided the team with a goal each and the scoreline at half time gave the supporters hope that the game was within Kiltha’s grasp. Half-time kiltha Og 2-6, St Finbarrs 0-4.  When St Finbarrs came out in the second half, there was a different mindset and they started by getting the first scores. When they scored the goal they drew level with Kiltha.  Andrew Kelly and Colm O Doherty pulled the team away again with their points but Barrs persisted and went on to score 5 more points before full time leaving Kiltha Og disappointed that they could not maintain their grip on the game. Full time Kiltha Og 2-9, St Finbarrs 1-15.
U15 Hurling League Premier 1, 30th Sept 2017:  Kiltha Og V Blackrock
This was a must win fixture for Kiltha Og in Dungourney. They needed to win to stay in the Premier grade for the next season. When you need to win badly you need all your team to step up to the plate. To play to the max of their capabilities. And this was exactly the outcome. In goal Darragh Coughlin was confident and reliable under the high ball. He unerringly found his man for his puck outs. In the backline Zak McAuliffe was rock solid, as were Niall Geaney and John Ahern. Colm O’Doherty was his usual dominant self in the half backs assisted by Niall McGrath and Kevin Knowles. Ciaran Joyce was majestic all morning in his display of fielding in midfield. Ben Napier at his side was not going to let any Blackrock player get past him. In the half forwards Ciaran Sice demonstrated a phenomenal work rate and some moments of wizardry ably assisted by Michael O’Dwyer and Scott O’Riordan. In the full forward line of Andrew Kelly, James Ahern and Jack Leahy – Andrew gave a masterclass in point taking both from play and the dead ball and James was the one who found the net as he has so often done this season.
It was a very cagey start from both teams and after 10 minutes all there was to show for each team was a single point. Slowly both teams found their rhythm but Kiltha Og were making the most of their opportunities and at half time led by 1-6 to 0-4, the goal having been poached by James Ahern and Andrew Kelly having contributed four out of the six-point total. Even with a five-point lead at half time this match could still have gone either way and the team that wanted it most needed to stamp their authority on the second half. KIltha Og got the first score of the second half and didn’t look back after that. Further points from Andrew Kelly, Ciaran Joyce, Ciaran Sice, James Ahern and Michael O’Dwyer resulted in a very satisfactory nine point winning margin for Kiltha Og and premiership status retained for next year. Final score: Kiltha Og 1-18, Blackrock 2-6
